University Groups Board

The WES University Groups Board (UGB) is made up of representatives of WES Affiliated University Student Groups from across the country.  Chaired by Toni McLaughlin ( , the group meets monthly to share best practice, aid networking and provide valuable feedback to WES on issues relevant to women engineering students. They self-motivate, self-organise and self-deliver their own projects which have included articles for the newsletter and now monthly blog posts.

This year they have a couple of different events planned: In order to support WES Affiliated societies a ‘Committee Role Mixer’ will be held where the societies bring their committees to chat and learn from each other – this directly supports the UGB. However in addition to this more widely the UGB are planning to host a workshop at the WES Student Conference in November entitled: “Building Confidence through Presenting”. (Find out more information soon on the WES Website). Finally there will be other events through the year, looking at Podcasts and of course INWED in June.

The board sits for a minimum of 1 year with the formal change over at the start of the academic year.
